Sylvia Zofia Hartowicz, MA, ATR-BC
Welcome! Thank you for visiting my site. My name is Sylvia Zofia Hartowicz and I am a Board Certified Art Therapist, as well as a Spiritual Counselor. My interests are: the creative arts in therapy, depth psychology, ancestral consciousness and healing, mindfulness and compassion in therapy, and sacred ritual. Currently I am working at completing my PhD in East West Psychology at the California Institute of Integral Studies.
Over the last ten years or so I have worked in many capacities providing therapeutic services to the community. More specifically, I have worked with children, adolescents, adults, and families providing outpatient and community-based therapy services. I have also been involved in community organizing and outreach. More recently, I have focused on learning how to integrate psychology, spirituality, and the creative arts therapies in my practice. For more detailed information please download my resume below.
Listed below are current offerings that I am providing in the Bay area. The workshops offered incorporate spirituality, depth psychology, the creative arts therapies, and ritual to aid in transformation around varied themes. Please check back again since these offerings are constantly changing. In addition, I am available to offer individual services for children, adolescents, and adults, as well as supervision for Art Therapists.
Art Therapy and Dreamwork:
A Creative Approach to Coming into Relationship with Dream Images
Dreams carry an inner knowing, an innate sensibility, and an element of potency that affords each of us the capacity to open to the depths of our own experience. When we tend a dream, images come “awake,” imagination is animated, and we participate in life more fully rooted in the way of the dream.
-Stephen Aizenstat, Psychologist
Come and explore your dreams in a new, expansive way with the help of the creative arts!
We will explore ways of coming into relationship with dream images through an approach called "dream-tending" developed by Stephen Aizenstat. Dream-tending means “listening deeply to the voices of the dream images themselves as they come forward to offer their insights and perspectives” (Aizenstat, 2003).
Participants will come into relationship with the images in their dreams, bringing them to life and encountering them in creative ways. Although, visual art will be the primary art-form used in the group, participants will also have the opportunity to journal, write poems, and dance as a way to gain insight to their dreams. Ritual and meditation will be incorporated as well, bringing a spiritual element to the group.
Details to follow. Please check back soon.
